Yesterday 20 Feb 06 I went to lowyat to change my hard disk for my laptop. Total RM400 (80GB hard disk, USB external hardisk case) + RM10 service charge.
I know one, that chee bye technician sendiri earn RM10, cos when I pay, the malay gal cashier took out the RM10, only billed RM400. But I no blame him because he is really skillful, I got my new hardisk installed in 5 minutes.
I change the hardisk cos I found it’s not very stable already, I scared chee bye one day the hardisk dead suddenly, then everything gone. So better prevent it, so I decided to change. Cos last time I format it, you know how long ah? I took 12 hours to format it!! KNN!! and how long to install the winxp you know? another 12 hours!! KNNCCB!! and now, when you using the laptop, suddenly can hang like 10 seconds like that, then resume.
My previous hardisk has a 40GB space, the new one is 80GB space, well this is enough for me cos I very seldom download movies, only some mp3. ^^
After changed, I also purchase a usb hardisk case, which I put my old 40gb hardisk inside, and it will become like a external drive, like a thumb drive. So next time when you wanna buy a 1GB thumb drive, my advise is, get a 40GB notebook hardisk, and buy a external casing, the price is almost the same with you buy a 1GB thumb drive :)
After changed the hardisk, I bought a DVD (wad Microsoft Cool Windows blablabla), got XP SP2 and office inside one, so after back home, I try to boot it and install sp2, but kiang kan, that DVD cannot directly boot and install xp, it boot up the dunno wad software, and even the setup.exe cannot be run in dos prompt, wtf xp dvd is that, I even ask Kanneneh to help me (he IT support very good one), he oso dunno wad boot software is that, so boh huat, I have to install back my sp1 cd, then only re-install again the sp2, so last nite I actually installed the windows 2 times, but wad to do, luckily that chee bye dvd still can use.
The first few software I installed including AVG antivirus, Adaware, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, BitComet, Media Player 10, Office, Photoshop etc etc, including all the drivers, install until 1am only go sleep.
I actually went lowyat with Kanneneh, cos he always go lowyat one so he more familiar with the shops. We go with bus and train (metro 12 bus + monorail, stop at IMBI, walk to lowyat, save and convenient). However, when we back from lowyat, in KL Sentral, behind there there’s a street (Brickfields area), a lot of chicken there one, and he told me, “you go in lah.. I follow ur back go in”.
